The Art Sandbox is a series of experimental events started by artists Heather Cox, Beth Dary, Susan Jennings, Christy Speakman & Katarina Wong for the purpose of reinvigorating their creative practices with a sense of play.
For the events, each of them invited one other artist to join. There are only three requirements:
1) Must bring a material they've been wanting to work with and don't mind sharing
2) Must play well with others
3) Must bring a bottle of wine
From there, anything is possible in the 3 hours allotted. This blog is devoted to documenting these creative sandbox sessions.

Welcome to the Art Sandbox!
Welcome to the Art Sandbox, an experiment in creativity, collaboration (or not) and most of all, artistic play. Here are my photos from our first event, held Thursday, November 5, in my studio in Chelsea (NYC).
In attendance were Heather Cox, Beth Dary, Alessandra Exposito, Susan Jennings, Geraldine Lau, Sarah Olson, Christy Speakman and Katarina Wong. The session lasted about 3 hours. Materials included recycled paper cord, pins, beads, maps, large ziploc bags, llama fur, thread, vintage pens, ink, parkers, yarn, wax, etc.
